President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he was "sorry" that the meeting with Donald Trump in Washington "did not go as expected."
This was said by the Head of State on social media.
"Our meeting in Washington, at the White House, on Friday did not go as planned. It is unfortunate that this happened. It is time to make things right. We would like future cooperation and communication to be constructive," said Zelenskyy.
He assured that Ukraine is ready to sign the agreement on minerals and security "at any time and in any convenient format."
"We consider this agreement as a step towards strengthening security and reliable security guarantees, and I sincerely hope it will work effectively," the President of Ukraine hopes.
Zelenskyy assured that he "does not want an endless war" and is ready to "sit down at the negotiation table as soon as possible to bring about reliable peace."
"No one wants peace more than Ukrainians. My team and I are ready to work under the strong leadership of President Trump to achieve lasting peace," the Head of State said.
As the first steps toward peace, Zelenskyy proposed: the release of prisoners, an immediate ceasefire in the air – banning missiles, long-range drones, and bombings of energy and other civilian infrastructure, as well as an immediate ceasefire at sea. He is ready to agree to this "if Russia does the same."
"Then, we want to quickly move through all the next steps and, together with the United States, reach a strong final agreement. We truly appreciate how much America has done to help Ukraine preserve its sovereignty and independence. And we remember that pivotal moment when President Trump provided Ukraine with Javelins. We are grateful for that," Zelenskyy concluded.
