Sybiha names Kremlin’s conditions Ukraine will never accept

There are red lines Ukraine will never cross.

Neither Russia nor any other country has a veto right over Ukraine’s decision to join NATO or any other alliance.

This was stated by Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha during the government's question hour in parliament.

According to him, Kyiv does not accept any restrictions on the country’s sovereignty or on its internal and foreign policy — particularly regarding the choice of alliances and blocs.

"Yes, we may not currently have a consensus on the country’s NATO membership, but we will continue to work actively to achieve it. However, Russia — like any other country — has no right, and will not have the right, to veto our choice," Sybiha declared.

The minister emphasizes that Ukraine is unconditionally ready to cease fire — unlike Moscow, which aims to continue the war. At the same time, Kyiv "will not accept a so-called peace at any cost."

"The country’s principled positions regarding the terms of peace remain clear and unchanged. First, we will not recognize any temporarily occupied territories as Russian. Second, we will not agree to any restrictions on the structure, size, or other characteristics of Ukraine’s Defense Forces, nor on the defense industry, military aid from allies, or the presence of their contingents on our territory," the minister added.
