On Thursday, October 9, a section of the Tolyatti–Odesa ammonia pipeline was damaged near the front line between the villages of Rusyn Yar and Yablunivka in the Russian-occupied part of Donetsk region.

The Donetsk Regional Military Administration reports this.

The message says there is no threat to human life, as transportation of ammonia through this section has been suspended since 2014.

«A white cloud is visible — this may indicate a leak of residual ammonia, which will continue until the excess pressure drops. It may take several days, ” the administration noted.

Because the wind in the area is south-eastern, the ammonia cloud may drift toward Druzhkivka, where the smell could be noticeable.

«There is no reason for excessive concern. If the smell is strong, it is enough to close windows and limit time outdoors — as a preventive measure. Official services will provide updates, ” the administration added.

According to the local authorities, the pipeline was damaged as a result of shelling.

«The site cannot be inspected, as it is temporarily occupied territory, ” the message read.

Russian propagandists claim the pipeline was damaged by an explosion.
