Overnight on March 7, the Russian army struck several regions of Ukraine with missiles and drones. Energy infrastructure, railways and residential buildings were targeted.
In particular, apartment blocks were damaged in Kharkiv, where at least seven people were killed, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Russia used 29 missiles and 480 drones against Ukraine overnight, the head of state reported. The occupying forces targeted energy infrastructure in Kyiv as well as in the Khmelnytskyi and Chernivtsi regions, and railway infrastructure in the Zhytomyr region. The consequences of the Russian attack have also been recorded in the Sumy, Odesa, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Vinnytsia, Poltava and Cherkasy regions.
Rescue teams have been clearing rubble at a residential building in Kharkiv since overnight after it was hit by a Russian ballistic missile. One entrance section was destroyed and upper floors of a neighbouring building were damaged. At least seven people were killed and more than ten injured, according to preliminary data. People may still be trapped under the rubble, the president said.
“There must be a response from partners to these brutal strikes against life. Russia has not abandoned attempts to destroy Ukraine’s residential and critical infrastructure, so support must continue. The PURL program must remain active,” Zelenskyy said.
