After capturing Vuhledar in Donetsk region, the Russian occupiers may also try to seize Kurakhove and Velyka Novosilka.

This was stated by Oleksandr Musienko, Head of the Center for Military and Legal Studies, in a comment to "RBC-Ukraine."

The main objective of the occupying forces, following the capture of Vuhledar, is Kurakhove. The Russian army may try to approach and aim to encircle it.

According to Musienko, less than a year ago, when the Russians were advancing after capturing Maryinka, it could have seemed that they were moving towards Kurakhove without posing a threat to Vuhledar.

"But they didn’t bypass Vuhledar. Therefore, I think that if they advance towards Velyka Novosilka, it will be to divert our forces. However, they will concentrate on an encirclement operation in the Kurakhove area," the military expert stated.
