The sharp increase in the number of missile and drone strikes on Ukraine is not only due to Russia's efforts to hunt Patriot air defense systems.

Military experts told about this in a comment for TSN.ua.

"In recent weeks, the enemy has used 120 missiles. If we compare with the recent past, when the Russians used 70 missiles at one time, we can say that the enemy's capabilities have not changed, but the format has changed," a military-political observer of the "Information Resistance" group, Oleksandr Kovalenko, said. "Instead of a single large quantity, the strikes now occur with intervals of 1-3 days. Occasionally, they also use kamikaze drones."

According to Kovalenko, there could be several reasons for the escalation of the situation.

"Panic related to the counteroffensive, hunting for Patriot air defense systems, and attempts to adapt to the increased effectiveness of our air defense systems. They are experimenting with breakthrough effectiveness, seeking possibilities for breakthrough," Kovalenko believes.

When asked about whether Russia is running out of missiles, which has been discussed by other analysts, Kovalenko responds: "They cannot run out because Russia produces them. They will not run out. The production allows the enemy to carry out such limited strikes. The shelling will continue. Unfortunately."

Former spokesperson of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Vladyslav Seleznev, also states that the escalation will continue.

"As for the shelling of Kyiv, the situation is as follows: as long as Putin has missiles, he will launch them. Kyiv is the center of decision-making, and Putin is eager to destroy the Patriot system," Seleznyov said. "He often makes emotional decisions, understanding that he will achieve a powerful propaganda effect if there is information about the destruction of the American Patriots by Russian 'Kinzhal' missiles. That's why such attacks are taking place."

According to Seleznyov, in his opinion, there are two pieces of news now.

"The bad news is that Putin will continue to try to do this because he has the ability to produce up to 50 missiles every month. The good news is that the Ukrainian military has enough experience, equipment and weapons to counter these high-level missile attacks. There will be missile attacks, but the absolute majority of missiles will be destroyed. As for the prospects, the only way is to strengthen air defense systems."

According to Seleznyov, the logic does not work that Russia would reduce the number of attacks after seeing the majority of missiles shot down.

"Putin sees 200,000 dead Russians, but it hasn't stopped him.

Before the start of the full-scale aggression, many highly respected military experts believed that the level of unacceptable casualties for Putin would be somewhere between 10,000 and 12,000. After 200,000 occupiers had been killed, Putin is still not ready to change his attitude towards the so-called Special Military Operation and continues to send his compatriots to their deaths," the expert summarizes.
