Night attack on Ukraine: everything known about Russian strikes and hits

The Russian occupiers massively attacked Ukraine on the night of June 20, launching Shahed kamikaze drones and missiles. Some of the enemy targets were destroyed, but hits were also recorded.

TSN.ua compiled everything that is known about the night attack.

Around midnight, a large-scale air alert was announced in Ukraine. The Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces warned of the threat of the enemy using attack drones. Explosions were heard in Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Lviv during the alert.

Explosions in Kyiv

Around 4:00 am the Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported about the operation of air defense systems. A few hours later, the Kyiv City Military Administration announced that nearly 20 enemy targets had been detected and destroyed by air defense systems in the airspace around Kyiv. They specified that the drones approached the capital from different directions and courses. The air alert lasted for over three hours.

Attack on Zaporizhzhia

Regarding Zaporizhzhia, the Regional Military Administration reported another massive enemy attack, targeting communication infrastructure, agricultural and farming equipment and machinery, as well as a popular vacation spot.

Later, Anatoliy Kurtiev, the Secretary of Zaporizhzhia City Council, stated that no people or residential buildings were affected by the night attack. All municipal systems were reported to be functioning normally.

Explosions in Lviv

Lviv and the region were attacked by the drones, and a series of explosions occurred during the night. Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi reported about a hit on a critical infrastructure facility, which resulted in a fire. Firefighters, the State Emergency Service and municipal services are working at the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the attack.

How many enemy targets have been destroyed

As reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian invaders launched 30 Shahed drones over Ukraine during the night attack. 28 of them were shot down by air defense forces.

Later, the Air Force of Ukraine clarified that Russian forces had struck Ukrainian military and infrastructure facilities with Shahed drones. 32 of the 35 UAVs launched were destroyed.

According to the General Staff, the invaders attacked Zaporozhzhia and its surroundings with seven S-300 missiles. And the Air Force reported about the strike on Zaporizhzhia with "Iskander-M" ballistic missiles.

Air defense systems were operating in most regions of Ukraine, but the main direction of the drone attacks was focused on the Kyiv region. The aggressors carried out launches from the north (Bryansk region of Russia) and the south (eastern coast of the Sea of Azov).
