Putin’s Nuclear Threats: Experts Explains What May Force Russia to Abandon Its Intimidation Tactics
Russia continues to threaten the world with the use of nuclear weapons as part of the war against Ukraine.
Former Chief of Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service Mykola Malomuzh believes that the continuation of active offensive operations by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the liberation of Ukrainian territories will force Russia to abandon its threats to use nuclear weapons, as he said in an interview with OBOZREVATEL.
"This is, of course, a continuation of our active offensive operations, a transition to a new stage: not only defensive, but also strategic offensive operations, liberation of territories, and against this background, the weakening of the Putin regime. In this case, politicians and the military in Russia, facing the threat of responsibility, will have to deal with Putin himself and decide whether to remove him or not. They will negotiate with the West on the terms of surrender or peace, but on the condition that the regime in Russia remains in place for a certain period of time," he said.
Malomuzh also believes that the Russians can motivate this by the same nuclear threat, when nuclear weapons can end up in the hands of new dictators of new states that may be formed during the collapse of the Russian Federation.
"In return, they will guarantee stability, but on the condition that Putin is removed from power, that Ukraine receives compensation for losses due to the war, etc.", he explained.
