American economist Jeffrey Sachs, quoted by Kremlin media, claimed that Putin's plan for a peaceful settlement could become a real basis for negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. However, this is false.
This was stated by the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security.
"Praising assessments of "Putin's peace plan" are nonsense, as all the proposals currently voiced by the Kremlin are invitations to surrender," the post reads.
According to the Center, the Kremlin's promotion of its own "readiness for negotiations" has not only a tactical but also a strategic goal. It aims to create confusion in the minds of Western societies so that the top priority on the agenda becomes not military aid to Ukraine, but the start of a peace process to which Moscow allegedly is open.
"As for Jeffrey Sachs, he propagates narratives that align with Russian propaganda. He appeared on broadcasts with propagandist Solovyov, where he claimed that "NATO expansion" supposedly had provoked Putin into launching a full-scale invasion of Ukraine," the journalists added.
