Reznikov on the supply of shells: "It is not the quantity that matters, but the quality"

Now we understand that the ratio of the use of shells on the front is not in our favor. The Russians use approximately 20-25 thousand shells per day, if you count the entire front line.

This is the amount that European industry produces in a month. We use from 3 to 7 thousand and this is actually an economy mode. Whether there will be more shells in the near future was discussed by the Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, in an interview with journalist Andriy Tsapliyenko from TSN.

"The fact is that this is really a war of resources. Russians have huge resources that have been accumulated since the time of the Soviet Union. We know for sure that they use even warehouses from the end of World War II. The first six months of this part of the open war, because we all remember that the war started in 2014, it had a hybrid character. They used up to 60,000 shots of different types and calibers per day. Therefore, they have also reduced their capabilities, although the front line has also decreased. Their resources are not infinite," Oleksii Reznikov emphasized.

According to him, the leadership of the Russian Federation has been going to other countries with "outstretched hands" to find ways to supply weapons and equipment.

"The production capacity of our partners is also limited. Therefore, today we are negotiating with our partners in order not to simply receive any artillery or shells. We are talking, and we did it in the spring of last year - we began to persuade and already in May we received the first 155 mm shells from the Americans. This gives us the opportunity to compensate for this gap with accurate, higher-quality, more technological weapons.

So the Russians continue to shoot in the salvo fire system - using 152-mm to fire 10 shots in one place. Our troops have the ability to use 2 shots, even for counter-battery combat. So the task here is not so much about quantity, but about the quality of artillery and accordingly the shots," Reznikov emphasized.

He also added that such a shot costs many times more.

Of course, the discussed counteroffensive with our partners includes providing the Ukrainian Armed Forces and defenсe forces with ammunition, both for defending the front line and accumulating reserves for counteroffensive operations," the Minister of Defenсe emphasized.
