Russia launched a second consecutive attack on Ukraine: which cities were targeted and what is the aftermath
The Air Force reported that radio engineering troops detected and tracked 91 Russian aerial attack vehicles.

Russian forces carried out a second consecutive large-scale attack on Ukraine using missiles and drones. The enemy strikes during the night of August 27 targeted Kyiv and the surrounding region, Zaporizhzhia, Kryvyi Rih and Khmelnytskyi region.

The Russians launched various types of missiles and "Shahed" strike drones against Ukraine overnight. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the enemy used "Kinzhal" aeroballistic missiles and Kh-101 cruise missiles. The missiles entered Ukrainian airspace from Russia’s Bryansk region into Chernihiv region. Afterward, the enemy targets headed toward Kyiv, the south and the west of Ukraine.
Attack on Kyiv and the region
Kyiv repelled a combined missile and drone attack. According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, debris fell on a forest park area in the Dniprovskyi district of the capital. The forest litter on an area of up to 50 square meters caught fire there.
Debris also fell in the forest park area of the Desnianskyi district, causing a fire. Emergency services are on the scene. No casualties have been reported from the attack.
Regarding the Kyiv region, Head of the Regional Military Administration, Ruslan Kravchenko, reported that air defense was operating in the area, with the alert lasting over 8 hours.
"There are downed targets. There were no hits on residential or critical infrastructure. No victims," Kravchenko said.
Due to falling debris, grass and forest litter fires occurred outside populated areas in several communities in Kyiv region. The fires have been extinguished.
Operational teams continue to work on documenting and eliminating the aftermath of the attack.
Attack on Zaporizhzhia
According to preliminary reports, overnight, the occupiers attacked Zaporizhzhia and the surrounding area with "Shahed" drones, delivering seven strikes. Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, reported that a man and a woman were killed in the attack, and four others were injured.
Those in the hospital include:
⦁ An 86-year-old woman in critical condition due to burns covering over 54% of her body;
⦁ A 59-year-old man in moderate condition;
⦁ A 30-year-old woman and a 56-year-old woman with minor injuries.
Private houses were damaged by the blast wave and debris, and grass caught fire in open areas.

Strike on Kryvyi Rih
Late in the evening of August 26, the Russians launched a missile strike on Kryvyi Rih, hitting the "Aurora" hotel. The hotel building was destroyed.
A man and a woman were killed in the attack. Five more people were injured. A 43-year-old woman was hospitalized in critical condition, and a 37-year-old man was hospitalized in moderate condition. Three others will recover at home.
As of the morning of August 27, the fate of two more people remains unknown. They are being searched for under the rubble, and the rescue operation is ongoing.
Six stores, four apartment buildings and eight cars were also damaged in Kryvyi Rih.
Additionally, as Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak reported in the morning, air defense forces shot down four "Shaheds" over the region during the night.

Attack on Khmelnytskyi region
The enemy attacked Khmelnytskyi region with missiles and drones. Air defense forces shot down eight aerial targets. As a result of the attack, one man was injured.
"All relevant services are working, and the locations where the debris fell are being identified. Additionally, two private houses caught fire due to the attack. The man living in one of the houses suffered a contusion," Head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Tyurin reported.
He added that by the morning, electricity supply had been fully restored in Khmelnytskyi region. However, due to the severe situation in the energy system, scheduled power outages are being implemented.
How many targets were shot down by air defense
Commander of the Air Force, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, reported that during the night, radio engineering troops detected and tracked 91 Russian aerial attack vehicles. Five cruise missiles and 60 strike drones were shot down over Ukraine.
The occupiers launched an attack on Ukraine using various types of missiles and strike drones:
Three Kh-47M2 "Kinzhal" aeroballistic missiles (from MiG-31K aircraft from the airspace over Lipetsk region);
An "Iskander-M" ballistic missile (from Crimea);
An "Iskander-K" cruise missile (from Voronezh region);
Five Kh-101 cruise missiles (from Tu-95MS bombers from the airspace over Volgograd region);
81 Shahed strike drones (from Yeisk and the Kursk region).
As of 9:00 a.m., air defense forces had shot down 5 Kh-101 cruise missiles and 60 Shahed-131/136 strike drones.
"Ten enemy drones were lost from radar (likely having fallen) on Ukrainian territory, one crossed the border into Belarus, and another ten or so are still in Ukrainian airspace," Oleshchuk wrote on the Web.
Combat work was carried out in Kyiv, Khmelnytskyi, Rivne, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Chernihiv and Kirovohrad regions.
