The first civilian ship passed through the new Ukrainian humanitarian corridor in the evening of August 16.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared this information.
"Ukraine has taken a significant step towards restoring freedom of navigation in the Black Sea. The first civilian vessel has passed through the new Ukrainian humanitarian corridor, departing from the port of Odesa. Currently, it is heading towards the Bosporus," the Head of State announced.
According to him, Ukraine had previously officially informed the International Maritime Organization (IMO) about the establishment of the corridor.
In turn, the IMO confirmed Ukraine's right to ensure freedom of navigation and called on Russia to stop threats and adhere to international conventions.
