The Kakhovka reservoir has suffered catastrophic shallowing after the Russian occupiers blew up the dam of the hydroelectric power plant. Meanwhile, the Dnipro river has returned to its old riverbed, and the reservoir's bottom has turned into a desert.
This information was reported by the press service of "Ukrhydroenergo".
However, the water level continues to decrease. Relevant services work on projects to eliminate the consequences and minimize the damage caused by this ecocide.
It is noted that as of July 3, the average water level of the lower bief near the Dnipro Hydroelectric Power Plant dam is 12.17 meters above sea level.
"Ukrhydroenergo" is working with a design institute to explore options for ensuring the full and unrestricted operation of the DniproHPP in Zaporizhzhia.
In order to solve the problems with water supply in four regions of Ukraine and Crimea, as well as the return of maneuvering capacities to regulate peak loads, in particular solar and wind power plants in the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, "Ukrhydroenergo" together with the design institute are developing a project of temporary water support structures (temporary dams) in the upper and lower pools of the Kakhovka reservoir.
