The occupiers have slightly advanced southwest of Vovchansk (northeast of the city of Kharkiv) amidst ongoing fighting.

This is stated in the report of the Institute for the Study of War.

The Russian occupiers continue to assault Kharkiv region, but most of Vovchansk remains under the control of Ukrainian Defense Forces. However, the Russians are trying to continue their assault on Vovchansk, aiming to secure positions in the city with infantry in order to turn it into street battles.

Geolocated footage published on June 2 indicates that Russian forces have recently made slight advances in the fields north and east of Starytsia (southwest of Vovchansk and northeast of Kharkiv) during a mechanized assault on the area.

A Russian military blogger reported that the fighting in Vovchansk and near Lyptsi (north of Kharkiv) is becoming positional. Russian units from the 138th and 25th Motor Rifle Brigades are operating in Vovchansk.

It should be noted that within Vovchansk, it is currently not only dangerous to move around but also to approach the city, according to Tamaz Gambarashvili, Head of the Vovchansk City Military Administration.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces control most of Vovchansk, with street fighting ongoing in the northern part.

According to analysts, Russian troops have advanced northeast of Kharkiv amidst ongoing positional battles. The occupiers have achieved some "successes" on the eastern outskirts of Vovchansk.
