During recent strikes by the Russian occupiers, Ukraine's energy system suffered significant damage, making it challenging to quickly restore generation capacity.

Oleksandr Kharchenko, Director of the Energy Research Center reported this in an interview with NV.

"There were quite a lot of damages both yesterday and the day before. Unfortunately, there are additional damages in the energy system that have tactically complicated the situation significantly. Certain critical issues will be resolved fairly quickly, meaning within at most two to three days we should exit the emergency shutdown regime. But overall, the situation with generation will not improve from this. Generation capacity, unfortunately, has been significantly affected, and it is impossible to restore it quickly," Oleksandr Kharchenko emphasized.

He also added that the situation in the energy system will remain difficult for at least two and a half years.
