Why the Ukrainian Armed Forces cannot stop the Russian advance: an expert identified three reasons

There are several reasons why the Ukrainian army is currently unable to stop the occupiers' advance on the front lines, with the foremost and largest factor being a shortage of personnel.

Ukrainian Armed Forces at the front

This opinion was expressed by expert Pavlo Narozhny in an article published by RBC-Ukraine titled "The enemy is pressing. Why some villages have been recaptured and whether Russia is capable of a major move."

"The delay in passing the mobilization law is a significant factor. The law came into force on May 18, when the Russian summer campaign had already begun. In other words, they started advancing, and we began mobilizing people at that point," he said.

The second reason, according to Narozhny, is the enemy's superiority in aviation. The enemy uses a large number of guided aerial bombs, conducting constant shelling along the front line and striking positions and equipment. Narozhny notes that Ukraine currently lacks sufficient means to adequately respond to these attacks, including a shortage of F-16 aircraft and Patriot missile defense systems.

The third problem, in the expert's view, is the slow delivery of weapons from allies.

"It is highly likely that the under-equipped brigades mentioned earlier by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy lack the necessary armored vehicles to hold back the enemy's advance and to destroy the occupiers' personnel and equipment. This also includes artillery and ammunition," Narozhny emphasized.
