The head of the state, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is confident that after the war, Ukraine should join NATO because its Defense Forces have combat experience.

The head of Ukraine said this during a conversation with media representatives from Latin America on Tuesday, August 8.

"When they say that NATO is at war with Russia on the territory of Ukraine, Russia says this because it cannot imagine in its head how Ukraine can oppose such a large army. In order to at least somehow calm their society, to justify their supposedly invincible daily efforts on the battlefield, they invented the image of this "beast", he said.

Zelenskyi refuted propagandists' fakes that US or other NATO partner bases are located on Ukrainian territory. "We don't need any bases. On the contrary, I am confident that NATO countries, the Baltic states, would be very pleased if powerful Ukrainian troops were stationed on their territory, safeguarding their borders after this war in times of peace. Everyone understands that we have a very strong army and a large number of soldiers. We don't need any bases, we don't have any bases – neither from the USA nor from other partners," noted the President of Ukraine.

Zelensky emphasized, "there is an example - where there is NATO, there is no war. All of them (NATO member countries) joined NATO because they fear that the Soviet Union might return. NATO is not an offensive mission for Ukraine. We have never advanced anywhere. Everywhere we have advanced - it's our territory," he concluded.
