President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that today, on January 22, he will introduce a key draft law to the Verkhovna Rada, enabling comprehensive changes to the legislation and the establishment of multiple citizenship.

The Head of State emphasized this in his address on the occasion of the Day of the Assembly of Ukraine.

According to Zelensky, the decision to introduce the institution of multiple citizenship is another manifestation of freedom in Ukraine.

"This document will allow all ethnic Ukrainians and their descendants from different countries of the world to have Ukrainian citizenship. Of course, except for citizens of Russia," the President emphasized.

According to him, this applies to all Ukrainians who, during various waves of emigration, were forced to leave their homeland and found themselves in Europe, the USA, Canada, Asian countries, and Latin America.

"This will also apply to all those who help Ukraine despite the hundreds of thousands of kilometers that separate them, and foreign volunteers who fight for our state.... Ukrainians by origin, who have long proven that they are Ukrainians in spirit. And after many years of waiting, they finally have the opportunity to become Ukrainians by passport. On a legislative level," he noted.
