Thanks to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' operation in Kursk region, there has already been a decrease in the number of Russian attacks on Sumy region.
This was stated by Yuriy Fedorenko, Commander of the "Achilles" Battalion of Strike Unmanned Aerial Systems of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade named after Otaman Ivan Sirko, as reported by "Apostrophe."
According to him, due to the actions of the Defense Forces in Kursk direction, there has been a noticeable reduction in the number of rocket artillery (MLRS) attacks on Sumy region. Also, the possibility of the enemy crossing the state border has been eliminated.
Moreover, enemy aviation has decreased its activity in the region. The reserves that were positioned on Russian territory and were intended for use in the Kharkiv offensive operation in the Kupiansk direction and in Donetsk region are now being forced to be deployed in Kursk region instead.
"Some units that had not yet been engaged in combat on the mentioned fronts are also being regrouped and sent to Kursk region. Therefore, it can be said that as a result of the Kursk operation, the potential threat from the enemy has been neutralized," Fedorenko explained.
The soldier reminded that the Russian army had intentions of launching an offensive in Sumy region, which led the Defense Forces to take preemptive measures, preventing the enemy from advancing further and opening another front in Ukraine.
"Since the beginning of the summer, 2,000 rocket artillery attacks and over 250 guided aerial bombs have been recorded in Sumy region. Now we see that the number of attacks has significantly decreased thanks to the measures taken by Ukraine. The Defense Forces will continue to take all necessary steps to create a buffer zone and strengthen the state border, including with engineering and fortification structures," Yuriy Fedorenko concluded.
