Ukraine should be a full-fledged member of the North Atlantic Alliance, rather than just a privileged partner. Therefore, the establishment of the Ukraine-NATO Council should be associated with a clear step that brings Ukraine closer to membership in the bloc.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, made this statement, as reported by the ministry's press service.

Following the negotiations with his German colleague Annalena Berbok, Kuleba stated that without a decisive step towards membership, the establishment of the Ukraine-NATO Council would be like a tank without a gun.

"Creating the Ukraine-NATO Council in Vilnius without a decisive step towards membership is equivalent to providing a tank without a gun. NATO needs Ukraine as a member state of the Alliance, rather than just a privileged partner," the Minister emphasized.

In addition, the Ukrainian minister expressed gratitude to the German side for supporting Ukraine.
