If the Ukrainian troops manage to maintain control over the supply line north of Vuhledar, then the city in Donetsk region, which has been stormed by the occupiers for two years, will be able to hold.
This opinion was expressed by military analyst of the German publication Bild, Julian Röpcke.
Röpcke notes that Russian forces have intensified their attacks, surrounding the city on three sides and entering from the southeast. However, Ukrainian troops still control the supply route from Kurakhove to the north.
"These buildings, up to 10 stories high, protect them well. The problem remains in logistics, in the possibility of preserving it and so that the city is not surrounded. In the city itself, the Armed Forces of Ukraine still have opportunities to dig in and defend themselves. But to the north, the situation is very close to the fact that the Russians will manage to cut off supplies," the analyst said.
Röpcke criticized leaflets demanding surrender, dropped by occupiers over the city, calling them a "prehistoric propaganda tactic from World War II."
