"Battles for Toretsk are ahead": a military analyst on Russia's insidious plans in Donetsk region

The battles for Toretsk in Donetsk region are yet to come, as the Russian army is gathering resources on the outskirts of the city.

This information was shared by military analyst Vasyl Pekhno on the Kyiv24 broadcast on Wednesday, July 31.

"The fighting for Toretsk is still ahead. Be sure that it will happen because the Russians are showing a concentration of forces, accumulating personnel in the agglomeration near Toretsk, in such settlements as Pivnichne, Zalizne, Pivdenne. They are everywhere there. The Russians are capable of doing this. We saw when an entire enemy platoon was moving near Ocheretyne, and fighters of the 110th Mechanized Brigade were attacking it. The infantry component is huge in all these directions," he said.

According to the military, as relayed by the expert, there is a large enemy personnel presence in this direction. He believes that the enemy has been preparing for the Toretsk operation.

"Some Ukrainian servicemen even suggest that this was not a spontaneous action regarding Toretsk, as it initially seemed. All these issues about unsuccessful rotations and the redeployment of the 24th brigade, which had not lost a single position in a year. And during this weak period, when the rotation occurred, the occupiers took advantage of it and made a situational breakthrough. Now, our soldiers say that, perhaps, it was an emotional and spontaneous decision made during the rotation, but it seems that the Russians were preparing for the Toretsk operation and significantly strengthened their presence with personnel," the analyst noted.
