Granting Ukraine permission to strike deep into Russia with long-range weapons could drastically reduce the number and intensity of attacks by the aggressor state. Western missiles could severely damage the logistics of the occupiers and weaken the potential of Putin's army. However, as of today, the U.S. is still considering this issue.

Military-political analyst from the "Information Resistance" group, Oleksandr Kovalenko, explained how the war between Russia and Ukraine could change if such a decision is made.

"If this permission is granted without restrictions, meaning full use of capabilities at a range of 300 km into Russian territory, it would effectively paralyze the operation of all major airbases from which the tactical and attack aircraft of the Russians take off," Oleksandr Kovalenko says.

The expert continued: "The first effect would be that a significant number of military aircraft would disappear from our airspace. They wouldn't be able to reach us as easily, and distances would become much more of a challenge. This would not only impact the combat zone but also reduce the terror against civilians in the border areas."

According to Kovalenko, the West is moving closer to making a positive decision on this matter.

"I’m not saying that a decision to allow strikes up to 300 km will be made immediately," he said. "The decision may come in stages, as the West rarely acts without some restrictions. However, permission will be granted, that's inevitable. The question is how long it will take and what limitations there will be. The best scenario for us would be for this to happen by the end of September, ideally without restrictions. That would be the perfect outcome. Russia won't be able to respond effectively. Of course, they will try to strengthen their air defenses, but they won't be able to make any fundamental changes."

Kovalenko also noted that 20 of Putin’s army airbases, which are actively used, would fall within the strike range of Ukrainian missiles.

"There are plenty of ammunition depots, fuel storage facilities, and military-related sites. There are even more of these than airbases," the expert added.
