Russian troops are trying to completely capture Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as create a threat in the direction of the Oskil Reservoir in Kharkiv region.
Ivan Tymochko, a military serviceman and Head of the Council of Reservists of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this on the "Espresso" channel.
According to him, the Russians seek to occupy Chasiv Yar to create a staging ground for an advance towards Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk and Slovyansk.
"The enemy is acting according to his operational plan, combining its military formations from the Avdiivka direction, as his main task is to completely occupy Donetsk region," Tymochko commented.
He added that Russian forces are also trying to complete the seizure of Luhansk region and create threats to Kharkiv region, particularly towards the Oskil Reservoir.
"We observe that the enemy's task is to capture Chasiv Yar in a short period, as we see the strength and mass of human resources that the Russian army is deploying towards Chasiv Yar," says the Head of the Council of Reservists of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Tymochko stresses, that Russian forces use tactics similar to those used in Avdiivka - wipe out the city with the help of aviation. The enemy is also trying to mobilize reserves from Kharkiv and Luhansk regions.
"I wouldn't say that after Avdiivka, Chasiv Yar is the occupiers' number one goal, but it is one of the priority directions they are trying to seize, taking into account that we have a certain shortage of ammunition and certain problems with supporting air defense systems," the military expert noted.
