Critical situation: Ukrainian Armed Forces are under the risk of encirclement by the Russian army
In fact, a dangerous situation has already developed near Makarivka.

The situation in the southern section of the front in Donetsk region, particularly near the Vremivka ledge, has become critical as the Russian army attempts to encircle Ukrainian forces.
Military analyst Denys Popovych said this on Radio NV.
"If we talk about the Vremivka ledge, the situation there is very difficult. It’s directly connected to the Kurakhove direction. Why? Because if the enemy encircles our forces in this area, they could cut the route from Kurakhove to Zaporizhzhia, creating a dire situation near Kurakhove itself," Popovych explained.
According to him, the occupying army of Russia aim to encircle Ukrainian defenders, particularly in the vicinity of Velyka Novosilka. Meanwhile, a dangerous situation has actually developed near Makarivka. There can also be an encirclement, Popovych says.
"Makarivka is within a potential small-radius encirclement near Velyka Novosilka. The village is actually in a gray zone. Retreating from there is extremely difficult due to current weather conditions. The fields are waterlogged and almost impassable. Infantry might manage, but heavy equipment could be left behind as it risks getting stuck. A similar scenario could unfold near Kurakhove, and something comparable has already occurred near Uspenivka," Denys Popovych says.
