The Danish government will allocate 130 million Danish kroner (approximately $19.5 million) to support Ukraine’s energy system, which has been affected by Russian attacks.
This was announced on Monday, September 23, by Denmark’s Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities Lars Aagaard, according to NV.
This new contribution is one of the largest for Ukraine from Denmark. The announcement was made during a meeting within the working group of the Group of Seven countries on energy security of Ukraine.
“Russia is violating the rules of war with massive attacks on Ukraine’s electrical and thermal infrastructure. Winter is approaching, and many Ukrainian homes will be left without heat and electricity. And not only that: ordinary energy sector workers, who tirelessly do their jobs, are becoming targets. We must do everything possible to make Ukraine’s energy system as strong as possible,” the minister said.
The Danish aid will help implement urgent measures, purchase equipment, and spare parts to restore energy security.
