This situation may last for at least one week or more.

Duration of rolling power outages in Ukraine may double to six-eight hours due to the enemy's massive missile strike against the energy infrastructure, as Maksym Beliavskyi, the energy markets analyst, said in his interview for Breakfast with 1+1.

He reminded that emergency blackouts are needed to keep the energy system manageable.

"The rolling blackout duration will certainly increase, and the consumers should be prepared for it. In my opinion, (the duration - ed.) may increase from four hours, as the rolling blackouts last on average now, to six or even eight hours, i.e. it may double," the expert said.

Still, according to him, this will likely be a temporarily challenge.

"It could last for a week or even more. Everything will depend on the materials and financial resources available to our energy system operators," Beliavskyi added.

In order to help repair and balance the energy system as soon as possible, the consumers should reduce their power consumption and timely pay the bills, since it is important for Ukrainian energy companies to have enough founding for procurements of repair equipment and materials.

The expert also advised to immediately unplug all the electrical appliances in the house, if the lights start to "flicker", because it may indicate voltage fluctuation that may easily damage electric equipment. If possible, voltage equalizers should be used.
