China voiced its support for Russia "under Putin's leadership". This statement was made by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during his conversation with Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on October 27th, as China’s official communique reads.

According to communique, Putin sent a "congratulatory letter" to Xi Jinping on the occasion of his re-election as the President of China. The PRC, in its turn, stressed that this fact illustrated "a high level of mutual trust and support between China and Russia."

"The Chinese side will also firmly support the Russian side under the leadership of President Putin in their desire to unite the Russian people to overcome difficulties, solve problems, implement strategic development goals and assert Russia's status as a major player in the international arena," the communiqué released following the conversation reads.

China also emphasized that China and Russia "had the legitimate right to pursue their own path of development," and any attempts to block this progress" were doomed to failure. In addition, Beijing expressed its desire to deepen interaction with Moscow at all levels "for the benefit of both countries and both nations and for the sake of greater stability in this chaotic world."

According to communiqué, Russian and Chinese foreign ministers also discussed Ukraine. However, no details were disclosed in this regard.
