In Sumy region, evacuation from the towns of Bilopillia and Vorozhba has began, due to regular Russian attacks.
This was reported by the Sumy Regional Military Administration on Facebook. The corresponding order was signed by Head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Volodymyr Artyukh.
"We must protect our population... This is not forced, but pre-emptive voluntary evacuation from those populated areas where the number of shelling has significantly increased," stated Volodymyr Artyukh during a staff meeting.
Currently, the population is being notified about the evacuation in the communities.
Residents of Bilopillia and Vorozhba, especially families with children who wish to evacuate, should contact the village and community heads. The evacuated population will be accommodated in places of compact residence within the region.
Additionally, the Regional Military Administration reminded that the evacuation of the population from border communities within the 5-kilometer zone from the border with Russia, which began in July 2023, is ongoing in the region. The evacuation includes residents of 115 border settlements in 15 communities of 4 districts of the region, which are under constant enemy shelling.
According to the regional administration, from January to April of this year, 40 residents were killed and 110 were injured, including 13 children, due to enemy shelling and airstrikes in Sumy region.
Just last week, 3 people were killed and 7 were injured, including 3 children.
