The high success rate of drone strikes on the frontline is due to a shortage of artillery shells. The Russians face the same issue.

This was stated by military expert Ivan Kyrychevsky during a broadcast on «Espreso.»

The expert explains that, despite Russia receiving strategic ammunition reinforcements from North Korea, they are still forced to rely on drones because they lack sufficient munitions.

«If we had enough shells, drones wouldn’t play such a significant role. The notion that drones are cheap and therefore we don’t need to buy shells is counterproductive. After all, over 60-80% of drones on the frontline are damaged during combat missions. What can be achieved with a few shells in a matter of minutes would take drones at least half a day, ” Kyrychevsky explained.

The expert emphasizes that, despite the high cost of shells, their effectiveness in striking targets will always be superior.

«This raises the question of what is more cost-effective to purchase: one shell for $3,000—though their actual price today is already $8,000—or to spend on drones that constantly break down during operations, ” the expert noted.

Kyrychevsky adds that Europeans produce shells independently, whereas for drones, we are dependent on China.
