Expert Listed International Mechanisms to Stop Russia’s Cooperation with Iran
In the expert’s opinion, the UN Security Council and the whole civilized world should come up with the mechanisms to punish Iran.
On October 31st, during the national telethon, Oleksandr Musiienko, the Head of the Center for Military and Legal Studies, explained the ways to influence Russia’s cooperation with Iran, where the latter supplies Kremlin with kamikaze drones and even promises to provide missiles.
According to the expert, the UN Security Council indeed does have capacity to affect the relations between Moscow and Teheran. The UN Security Council is the most capable organization when we are talking about the legal mechanisms to stop this international cooperation, Musiienko believes.
"Multiple sanctions have been imposed upon Iran, including, but not limited to prohibition of any cooperation in the area of duel-purpose technologies. The UN Security Council should respond to the fact that some of these sanctions are evaded in the first place. However, it may be difficult since Russia is still the member of the Security Council with the veto power", he stresses.
The second most important thing to do, according to the expert, is to review the list of potential components, which might have been supplied to Iran by the third countries and used for manufacturing weapons.
"If we are talking about Shaheds, I’m not sure that Iran even has 80% local content in manufacturing. They may actually purchase most manufacturing equipment from Russia. If we are talking about ballistic missiles, I still doubt that Iran is capable of manufacturing them with its own resources, and there should eb some third parties helping Teheran with this production. Therefore, it is essential to conduct international independent investigation to identify the supply change and launch a powerful sanction strike against this supply chains. The sanctions must be imposed not only by Europe, but by the whole civilized world”, the Head of the Center for Military and Legal Studies believes. According to him, yet another option is to enhance Iran’s international isolation and increase pressure against this country.
