The annual package of 3 billion euros, collected from the profits of frozen Russian assets, is "almost nothing" in the context of Ukraine's needs in the war.
This was stated by Minister of Justice Denys Maliuska in a comment to the American publication Politico.
"If we talk about the needs of Ukraine and the needs of the war, both military and non-military, then 3 billion euros is really almost nothing. We need hundreds of billions to win the war," the Minister stated.
At the same time, Maliuska clarified that this is a "good first step".
Since Moscow launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the EU has frozen over 200 billion euros of Russian state assets.
"The Ukrainian government would really like to get a full confiscation [of Russian assets] and really believes that this is legal and that this is the only approach that will be decisive in the issue of resolving the war [with Russia]", the Justice Minister added.
