Invaders Opened Fire on 20 Civilian Cars in Kharkiv Region

On the highway near Mala Rohan village in Kharkiv Region, the invaders opened fire on 20 civilian cars with local residents, Liudmila Denisova, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Ukraine reports.

“There were no military vehicles on the highway, only civilian cars. People tried to turn around. Unfortunately, many didn’t survive”, the Commissioner says.

According to her, the local authorities managed to pick up the bodies of the deceased people only now. Russian troops took control over the highway on February 27th and immediately started terror against local residents by shooting at civilian cars.

Denisova emphasizes that murder of civilians is a blatant violation of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, a crime against humanity and a war crime within the meaning of the Articles 7 and 8 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

“Now I would like to address the UN Commission for investigation of human rights violations committed during Russia's military attack on Ukraine and the expert mission established by OSCE member-states under the Moscow Mechanism with the request to take into account these facts of war crimes, crimes against humanity and human rights violations committed by the Russian Federation during invasion into Ukraine”, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Ukraine adds.
