"It will be painful, innocent people will be killed": which missiles Iran can transfer to Russia
Iran hopes to receive nuclear technology from Russia in exchange for missiles. The Russian Federation, which has depleted its missile potential in the war against Ukraine, seeks to obtain both short-range and long-range missiles from Iran.
Iranian missile complexes
What kind of Iranian weapons can be obtained by the aggressor state and how realistic such a deal is, military analyst Colonel Petro Chernyk told TSN.ua in an exclusive interview.
What missiles does Iran possess
According to the expert, Iran has three classes of missiles.
"Fateh-110, with a range of up to 300 kilometers. It has a relatively heavy warhead of 650 kilograms, somewhat akin to an enhanced “Tochka-U”… The next missile is Zolfaghar, with a range of up to 700 kilometers. It is an enhanced version of the “Iskander” missile, carrying a warhead of up to half a ton. And the largest missile is the medium-range Shahab-3, capable of striking targets from 1,500 to 2,500 kilometers, and they even declare a range of 2,500 kilometers. It has a heavy warhead, up to one ton," he enumerated.
What Iran wants instead
Petro Chernyk suggested that in exchange for missiles, Iran hopes to receive nuclear technology from Russia, potentially to target Israel.
"In reality, it's all very serious because Israel has recently stated that if it reaches that point, there will be massive strikes on Iranian territory," the expert noted.
How realistic is the deal between Iran and Russia
Petro Chernyk also noted that the delivery of this equipment depends on the "new Chinese 'Red Emperor' Xi Jinping," and he doubts that there will be a large quantity of supplies from Iran.
"Even if they do transfer missiles, it won't be a widespread phenomenon...If we coped with the X-47M2 "Kinzhal" missiles, then we will cope with this too... It will be painful, innocent people will be killed, our cities and villages will be destroyed, but we must endure, we have no other option," the expert concluded.
