Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal called on Poland to end the blockade of the Ukrainian border, which has been ongoing for six months. He reminded that this blockade damages Ukraine's economy and its defense capabilities.
He wrote about this in his Telegram channel.
"For the past six months, we have been living under constant blockade of the Ukrainian border by Poland. The blockade that has hit our economy and our ability to defend ourselves," Shmyhal emphasized.
He recalled how a month ago in Kyiv, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk spoke about Poland being Ukraine's most reliable and important ally in this deadly confrontation with evil.
"A month ago, we agreed that border blockades harm our countries and that it is important to prevent such incidents. A month has passed, and we are back to square one. Only now we see blatant provocations. We understand the difficulties faced by the Polish government. And we are ready to help resolve this situation and meet halfway," Shmyhal emphasized.
The Prime Minister explained that the Ukrainian side arrived at the border, which is being blocked by Polish farmers, to resolve this situation. Prior to this, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for action.
The delegation from Ukraine included Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna, Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction Oleksandr Kubrakov, Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko, Minister of Agriculture Mykola Solskyi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yevhen Perebiynis, Deputy Minister of Economy Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of infrastructure Serhiy Derkach, head of the State Border Service, General Serhiy Deineko, head of the State Customs Service Serhiy Zvyagintsev.
"But, unfortunately, such a meeting with Polish government officials did not take place today," Shmyhal said.
