As a result of drone debris falling on a building in the Pechersk district, well-known neurobiologist Ihor Zima and his wife were killed.
This was reported by the scientist's friend, Daria Tretyakova-Dushechkina, on Facebook.
In her post, she mentioned that Zima died in his bed.
"On 01/01/25, during the first drone attack on Kyiv in 2025, our friend, an outstanding person, Doctor of Sciences Ihor Zima, died along with his family: together with his wife and cat. Simply at home. In his bed. *We most likely would have celebrated the New Year at their place... Foreigners, whom I often meet around the world, often say "the main thing is to stop the bloodshed on both sides." I have just three letters in response," wrote Daria.
Ihor Zima was a Doctor of Biological Sciences, a lecturer at the "Institute of Biology and Medicine" at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Zima had 40 years of scientific experience. He led a research group focused on neuro- and psychophysiology.
