Dmytro Peskov, the spokesman for Russian president Volodymyr Putin, claimed that neither the U.S., European states, nor Ukraine are inclined toward political and diplomatic solutions, so the war must continue until Moscow's objectives are met.
Peskov made these remarks during an appearance on one of the Russian propaganda TV channels.
He stated that, from the very beginning, Putin allegedly reiterated his readiness for a "political-diplomatic settlement."
"After all, the "special military operation" (as Russia calls the war – ed.) is an extreme measure, used only after the collective West and Ukraine rejected any proposals for dialogue," the Kremlin spokesman falsely claimed.
Peskov stressed that for Russia, "the main thing is to achieve the goals set before us, and the methods used to do so are secondary." He also falsely said that Moscow was ready to achieve its goals "primarily through peaceful means."
"But we see that neither Washington, nor European states, nor Ukraine are inclined toward political-diplomatic solutions. Therefore, the special military operation must continue until the goals are reached," the Kremlin spokesman concluded.
