The scandalous Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, called the Russia's war against Ukraine a "military operation" at a meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
A Russian propaganda publication distributed a video of the conversation with simultaneous translation. In the footage, Orban can be heard saying the phrase "katona műveletek" (military operation) quietly.
The opposition member of the Hungarian Parliament, Marton Tompos, reacted to the Hungarian Prime Minister's statement.
"No, Viktor. What is happening in Ukraine is not a “special military operation”; it's a war. A war in which, on Putin's orders, they are killing Transcarpathian Hungarians... Shame!" Tompos wrote.
It's worth noting that on October 17th in Beijing, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin held an unplanned meeting. This is the first time in over a year that Putin met with the leader of an EU country.
Viktor Orban is known for his pro-Russian inclinations. He is often called "Putin's friend".
