Podolyak explained why it is important to fight for Bakhmut

Mykhailo Podolyak, Adviser to the Head of the Presidential Office, said that the defense of Bakhmut in Donetsk region is of strategic importance for Ukraine.

Presidential Office’s representative wrote about this on his Twitter.

Podolyak emphasized that Ukrainian defenders have been fighting for the city for more than nine months. According to him, first of all, this struggle disrupts the Kremlin's plans to occupy Donbas and reach the borders of Luhansk and Donetsk regions.

"About the main thing. The defense of Bakhmut is of strategic importance. Ukraine has been restraining the offensive potential of Russia for more than 9 months. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are destroying the most professional units of the enemy and disrupting the Kremlin's key plan - access to the borders of Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
