In the early hours of September 19th, the Russian army fired missiles against South-Ukraine NPP. A powerful explosion thundered only 300 meters away from SUNPP reactors, NAEC “Enerhoatom” reports.
The explosion shockwave damaged the NPP building and shuttered over 100 windows. Luckily, there are no human casualties among the plant’s personnel.
The attack resulted in shutdown of a hydroelectric generating set at Oleksandrivska HPP as part of South-Ukraine Energy Complex and disconnection of three high-voltage power transmission lines.
Currently, all three SUNPP power generation units are operated under normal conditions.
"Russian nuclear terrorist attacks create the threat for entire world. They must be stopped immediately in order to avoid a new disaster”, the message stresses.
