Diana Şoşoacă, leader of the Romanian party S.O.S. România, sent a letter to Russian president Vladimir Putin, expressing her dissatisfaction with being rejected as a candidate in Romania's presidential elections. In the same letter, she announced her intention to "return" territories she believes belong to Romania, which are currently part of Ukraine.
This was reported by European Pravda.
Şoşoacă addressed Putin after Romania's Central Electoral Commission rejected her registration for the second time due to anti-constitutional statements. The politician considers the decision politically motivated and links it to her pro-Russian views.
In her message, she described the current situation in Romania as "dictatorship" and stated that "Romania has territories that Ukraine unlawfully holds" because of the "unjust" Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.
"We have the right to protect Romanians in these territories and we strive to reclaim them," Şoşoacă wrote, adding that her demand should be considered during peace negotiations regarding Ukraine.
