Russian dictator Volodymyr Putin is closely overseeing the offensive of occupying forces in the Pokrovsk-Kurakhove direction in Donetsk region. He receives multiple daily updates from this front and demands further advances.
This was stated by the general of the army of Ukraine, ex-chief of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine (2005-2010), Mykola Malomuzh, FREEDOM reports.
Russian offensive in Donetsk region
According to him, the remnants of Russia’s professional army, new units staffed with contract soldiers, and so-called "international battalions" of mercenaries from "third world countries" are engaged in Donetsk region.
"There are mixed formations in the Donetsk direction: Africans, Cubans, and others," he said.
The general suggests that Russian forces are strengthening the Kurakhove sector to bypass the so-called Pokrovsk ledge, likely to encircle it. This approach aims to secure complete control of Donetsk region before harsh winter conditions arrive.
"That’s why the Russians are hurrying, deploying 5-7 times more troops than before — roughly 80,000 now, compared to 25,000-30,000 previously in the Kurakhove direction. The Kurakhove direction is now seen as the main breakthrough point," Malomuzh explained.
He described the situation on this front as difficult, with the enemy holding an advantage in both manpower and ammunition.
Malomuzh considers the events in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions crucial for halting the enemy. According to his information, approximately 80,000 Russian troops are concentrated in the Kurakhove direction, with another 50,000-55,000 around the area of Pokrovsk.
