The Russian army is preparing strikes on Ukraine's nuclear energy facilities, which is why Kyiv insists on lifting restrictions on long-range strikes against military targets on Russian territory.
This was stated by Ukraine's Foreign Minister, Andriy Sybiha, during a joint briefing with the foreign ministers of the Nordic-Baltic Eight in Odesa, as reported by Ukrinform.
"Russia has complete air dominance. We know they are preparing strikes on our nuclear energy facilities," Sybiha said.
For this reason, he explained, Ukraine insists on the removal of any restrictions on long-range missile strikes targeting military facilities in Russia.
The minister stressed that, under the UN Charter, Ukraine has the right to defend itself as a nation under attack.
"This right to self-defense is justified. We need it now. And I’m glad that the colleagues present here are in full agreement," Sybiha added.
