Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov states that the Russian occupying army may start an offensive in Donbas as early as this summer. Donetsk region is a strategic, political, and military task for Putin. The rhetoric of the Kremlin leader, claiming "Russia liberates the people of Donbas," remains unchanged.

Ivan Tymochko, Head of the Council of Reservists of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces expressed this opinion to "24 Kanal".

He emphasizes that Donetsk region is crucial for Russia, because the Russians have almost completely occupied Luhansk region.

As Tymochko pointed out, if Putin has to stop the aggression against Ukraine due to huge losses or internal political instability, then he hopes that he will have a justification for the Russian population - allegedly "we conquered Donetsk region" or "we liberated the people of Donbas".

Tymochko emphasized that Russia had been planning to fully seize Donetsk and Luhansk regions since 2014. The enemy has established logistical routes, ammunition depots, and amassed both human and technical resources there. Additionally, the occupiers have created the first and second army corps on the territory of these two regions, which are subordinate to the Russian army.

"However, given the current challenges of conducting military operations, Donetsk and Luhansk regions remain extremely important to them because it is currently easiest to advance there. They have built a network for their troops, and their communications are well-established," the military expert explained.

The Head of the Council of Reservists of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces says that it is important for the occupiers to occupy Donetsk region, at least in the directions of the base attack, that they are currently conducting. It is about the direction of Chasiv Yar and Avdiivka, when the enemy did not care about losses.

That is, the Russians want to occupy Donetsk region and Luhansk region in two directions.
