Russia struck Mykolaiv’s critical infrastructure: authorities report devastating consequences
The terrorists from the aggressor state continue to "terrorize" the civilian population.
Attack on Mykolaiv, February 16
On the night of February 16, Russian terrorists deliberately attacked Mykolaiv's critical infrastructure. Enemy drones damaged the city's thermal power station, leaving many people without heating.
This was reported by Denys Shmyhal.
The aftermath of the shelling of Mykolaiv
Shmyhal emphasizes that the Russians did this intentionally to leave people without heat during freezing temperatures and to create a humanitarian disaster.
"Currently, 46,000 subscribers are without heating," the politician stated.
All relevant services are working to address the aftermath of the attack and are doing everything possible to restore heating to homes, schools, and hospitals as quickly as possible.
"The city has already deployed 67 "points of invincibility," and the connection of 3 modular boiler houses in healthcare facilities has begun," the Prime Minister added.
Efforts by central and local authorities are coordinated to assist the people. According to Shmyhal, following the meeting of the State Commission on Technogenic and Ecological Safety and Emergency Situations, additional measures will be taken to ensure the residents of the city have heat.
Head of Mykolaiv Oleksandr Senkevych, added during a TV marathon that a worker from the Mykolaiv CHPP, who was injured in the explosion, is currently in the hospital.
"The power generation is completely destroyed – it cannot be restored in the near future. Our main goal today is to start the heating, at least for the part of the CHPP that provided heating for the city's residents," Senkevych stated.
He noted that the heating connection could take up to two days.
