The city of Selydove in Donetsk region is important for the Russian army. It is likely that the invaders plan to use it as a military platform, which is why they have not destroyed it with artillery.
This was said by military expert Oleksiy Hetman on the air of "Hromadske Radio".
Selydove is located in a low-lying area, making it tactically less significant. However, the Russian army might utilize the city as a military base since it has not been completely devastated.
"Selydove has not been destroyed by artillery, as happened with other cities - Avdiivka, Soledar, and Bakhmut. Therefore, one can assume that they might use this city as a site for establishing either warehouses or headquarters. They clearly want to make use of this city," Hetman explained.
According to him, Russia plans to capture key settlements before winter to control the roads. This is crucial due to the weather conditions during the winter season - rain and snow.
"Our winters have thaws. Moving across fields will be practically impossible. It's essential to control the roads for transportation and supply needs. Even if these roads are damaged, they are still better than traversing muddy fields. This is what they will fight for," the military expert stressed.
