Russian Military Shelled 548 Educational Institutions - Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the OSCE

Russian military shelled 548 educational institutions in Ukraine, including 220 schools and 155 kindergartens.

Such statement was made by Yevhenii Tsymbaliuk, the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the International Organizations in Vienna.

“Russia brought destruction upon 548 educational institutions, including 220 schools, 155 kindergartens and 40 other facilities, such as rehabilitation centers, sport schools, art schools, and libraries”, the Ukrainian Representative said.

According to him, Russian troops have already destroyed at least 3,5 thousand civil infrastructure facilities in Ukraine.

Tsymbaliuk noted that deliberate attacks on Ukrainian critical infrastructure facilities “reveal Russia’s plans to create humanitarian crisis in Ukraine”. He also referred to the UN date, according to which around 10 million Ukrainian have left their homes to save themselves from Russian attacks during the last month.

"What Russia planned to be a military campaign lasting just a few days turned into the worst catastrophe in Europe since the World War II. The number of casualties in this aggressive war started by the Russian Federation is devastating. Russian burns the entire cities into ashes”, the diplomat said.

More than 120 Ukrainian children have been killed, and at least 170 have been injured due to the Russian invasion into Ukraine.

The Russian troops siege Mariupol, Chernihiv, Izium and other Ukrainian cities.

"The worst situation in now in Mariupol. Currently, around 100 thousand people stay in the city. They are surrounded and besieged. No food, no water, no medicines. Life is under constant shelling. All our attempts to arrange safe humanitarian routes for Mariupol residents are disrupted by Russian invaders. Two days ago, one of our humanitarian convoys was simply captured by Russian troops”, Tsymbaliuk emphasized.

He also called on the international organizations, such as UN and OSCE, to join the efforts on arrangement of humanitarian routes in Ukraine.
