Russians attempt to change the design state of nuclear facilities at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, as Oleh Korikov, Head of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine, said during his briefing.

According to him, the extent of the damage caused by the Russians will only be shown by an examination after de-occupation, but the risk of decommissioning the nuclear power plant is not yet in question.

"Unauthorized changes in the design state of nuclear facilities are taking place at ZNPP. The inavders are illegally interfering with the operation of heat and power supply systems and building unknown structures near the backup power plant of Unit 6," he said.

Korikov says that the internal crisis center at the plant site has been dismantled, as the Russian military is permanently stationed there.

"We have not lost hope for the plant's return to safe operation after de-occupation," he adds.
