Russians Force Mariupol Children to Go to the Classes at the Destroyed School
The Russian military administration attempts to renew the educational process in Mariupol. The students are forced to go to the classes at the half-destroyed school building completely unsuitable for this purpose.
The Russian invaders have renewed the educational process at the Mariupol Secondary School № 65, according to Liudmyla Denisova, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Ukraine.
The classes are held at the small part of the school building, which now houses 9 groups of students, 35-45 children of different age in each. The children are studying in the Russian language according to the Russian educational program. This is despite the fact that the school building half-destroyed by the Russian shells is completely unsuitable for this purpose.

"The school building is half-destroyed now. The windows are broken. There are major interruptions with power supply due to the damaged utilities. Essentially, the entire building is powered by a one single generator. The school also does not provide any meals for the students”, Denisova reports.
The parents were forced to cover the broken windows with duct table and remove the debris through their own efforts. Meanwhile, there are some online reports about a 12-year-old boy, who stumbled upon a Russian shell in the school yard and triggered an explosion. Therefore, the school education in this setting is dangerous for life and health of the children, to say the least.
According to the Russian invasion authorities, the student will receive the education documents issued by the satellite self-proclaimed separatist republics to further enroll at the Russian universities in the economically depressed remote regions of the Russian Federation unpopular among the Russian secondary school graduates.

“These actions violate the Articles 29 and 38 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, according to which the education of the child shall be directed to development of respect for the child's parents, his or her own cultural identity, language and values, for the national values of the country in which the child is living, the country from which he or she may originate. This is also a violation of the duty to protect the children affected by the armed conflicts”, Denisova added.
