A «Shahed» drone came dangerously close to hitting a passenger train in Zhytomyr region last night. The UAV, operated online, was targeting an energy facility but almost struck the moving train on the tracks.

Radio-electronics and communications expert Serhii «Flash» Beskrestnov said the drone operator saw the train and knew there were people on board.

«The „Shahed“ pilot chose to attack the train, but only by sheer luck missed, ” he said.

A drone crash in Zhytomyr region later triggered a cargo train accident.

According to thr expert:

1. «The enemy keeps attacking our rear facilities with „Shahed“ drones — they have no moral limits. People who were peacefully sleeping on the train narrowly escaped a tragedy.»

2. It appears the «Shahed» was likely operated from Belarus, roughly 80 km from the incident site, while Russia would have been too far away.

3. The state has to strengthen the protection of locomotives and trains across the country, not only near the borders. This includes the use of electronic warfare tools against MESH modems and informing train drivers about procedures in case «Shahed» drones appear.

Beskrestnov stressed that these remotely controlled drone attacks reveal the enemy’s complete disregard for moral boundaries and pose a serious threat to civilian infrastructure.
